Preventing homelessness, incarceration and relapse is as important as responding to it.BRCs outpatient programs focus on that. For those dealing withaddictions, BRC offers the Fred Cooper Substance Abuse Service Center(licensed by the New York State Office of Alcoholism and SubstanceAbuse Services). For the seriously and persistently mentally-ill, thereis the Continuing Day Treatment Program (licensed by the New York StateOffice of Mental Health). Both offer individuals committed tomaintaining their sobriety, their mental health - and very often both -a safe space to go every weekday - and most evenings. Here, they gaininsight into their illness, participate in skill developmentactivities, and develop social support networks. In 2009, 507individuals participated in these outpatient programs.
